The Center for Homeland Defense and Security was presented with an award on June 29, 2019 for their K-12 School Shooting Database compiled by students from the Naval Postgraduate School. They have tracked down active shooter incident data from 1970 – present for analysis to understand shootings on school property, including busses. This data will identify ways to deter and manage future shootings, not only for victims; but, for the innocent.
Shooting Incidents charts are based on publicly available data on incidents from 2010-present following the definition of each and every instance a gun is brandished, is fired, or a bullet hits school property for any reason, regardless of the number of victims, time of day, or day of week.
